چکیده

-The TCP window size value, which is contained in the window size field of the TCP segment is a very important TCP Parameter. The window size value determines the number of bytes of data that can be sent before an acknowledgement from the reciever is necessary. If the window size field value is made too small, the performance deteriorates. This will slow throughput considerably. On the other hand, if the window size field is made too large, the sender may transmit so many segments that reciever will be overloaded. The window size field provides flow control, regulating the rate at which the transport processes on the two hosts may transmit. In this paper we have proposed modifications in TCP Window Size, wherein the performance in the network is improved by changing the TCP parameters. Simulations done on Opnet Simulator shows significant improvement in throughput, reduction in upload response time and delay.

On energy-efficient TCP traffic over wireless cooperative relaying networks

Cooperative relay is a promising technology to provide better end-to-end performance for wireless communication through spatial diversity. Most of previous study on relay networks concentrates on lower layer performance. However, how to design the relay network for standard transport control protocol (TCP), which is very important for application layer service, is rarely investigated. We focus ...

New Techniques for Regulating TCP Flow over Heterogeneous Networks

We study a typical network environment where TCP traac is generated from a source connected to a LAN (e.g. Ethernet) aggregated through an IP edge router to an access network (e.g. ATM, frame relay). Congestion at the edge router occurs when the bandwidth available in the access network cannot support the ag-gregated traac generated from the LAN. This paper presents a novel approach to reduce r...

Experimental Analysis on Performance Anomaly for Download Data Transfer at IEEE 802.11n Wireless LAN

It is reported that, even in IEEE 802.11n wireless local area network (WLAN), the performance anomaly occurs which reduces the throughput of all stations when there are some stations communicating with low data rate. But, the previous paper uses a manually configured environment in the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) uplink performance evaluation. In this paper, we show the results of exper...

Interactions with TCP

In this paper we describe our simulation models for evaluating end-to-end performance of HTTP transactions. We rst analyze several gigabytes of collected tra c traces from a production Frame Relay network. Using these traces we extract web tra c and analyze the server web pages accessed by actual users. We analyze over 25000 web pages and develop a web client/server interaction model based upon...

Performance Evaluation of Tcp over Mobile Ip

The aim of this paper is to study the effects of Triangle Routing and Mobile IP handoffs on TCP Performance. The majority of Internet hosts today do not comply with the considerations for routing optimisation. This means that until the wide deployment of next generation Internet hosts, triangle routing will be a permanent effect to Internet mobile communications. For Mobile IP handoffs it is de...
